The year 1777 was the one with the three most important years of the American War for Independence. British forces sought control of the Hudson River Valley and to crush colonial rebellion. It was an unsuccessful campaign and British General John Burgoyne surrendered to the Americans. The French were convinced that they could strike a powerful blow against the Empire. This was the start of British control over thirteen colonies. What will your fate be?

Pixel Soldiers Saratoga is the next big wargame by Jolly Pixel from the popular Pixel Soldiers series.

Saratoga, a turn-based strategy/wargame with addictive gameplay is easy to grasp and enjoy. Saratoga is a fully featured PC game that can fit into your pocket thanks to its seven scenario AI and the sandbox for endless war.

Seven scenarios are featured in Saratoga, most of which were inspired by historical battles. Some battles were modified for ease of playability, with fights that range from small to large. These are included:

* Crown Point (hypothetical).

* Ticonderoga, large scale manipulation of reality to increase pixel-on-pixel violence

* Hubbardton (small/medium skirmish historical).

* Fort Stanwix/Oriskany (combines Oriskany ambush with the Stanwix siege to create one compelling scenario).

* Bennington, a smaller historical battle.

* Freeman's Farm aka First Battle of Saratoga, large historical.

* Bemis Heights, also known as Second Battle of Saratoga. This historic event is quite extensive! ).

These are some of the many great features Saratoga has to offer that will please your inner grognard.

* Friendly save capability allows you to easily wage war from anywhere. You can save other ongoing campaigns.

* Tutorial.

* One player against an AI that is impressive or against a hot-seat opponent.

* Many units under your command, all in the finest pixels. British Line Infantry Guard Grenadiers Guard infantry Light Infantry German Loyalists Indians Medium and Light Artillery. American Musket and Rifle Militia Continental Regular Veteran infantry Light Infantry Riflemen medium and light artilley. The order of battle includes even small warships called bateaux.

* The units aren't all the same and perform a unique role on the battlefield, giving players plenty of options.

After campaigns have been completed, there is a sandbox mode that allows for unlimited replayability. Included are previous sandbox maps as well as a brand new map called King's Mountain. A new mode, Fight to the death--has also been added.

* The classic wargaming elements include the morale line, sight and importance of terrain.

This is a new series of leadership points. You'll never be able to accomplish everything you need or want.

* Leader points are available to be used for leading units into combat (to get a combat boost), ordering a double time march, and recovering or rallying troops who have been routed or become disorganized.

* The Pixel Soldiers series has some new features that are being revealed for the first-time. These include a Routing Phase, which is at the end the turn and provides more feedback in-game. This makes melee combat more dangerous than ever.

* Improved audio and visuals, but still retains the Pixel Soldiers style. It's almost impossible to smell the gunpowder dripping on the winds.
